I make color
in the lab, and on the web.

Cosmetic chemist by trade, maker by nature — lipsticks and blushes at the bench, websites and new tech on the side. This is where all of it lives.

Read the label

A chemist's cheat sheet for the ingredient list.

The long, scary-looking names, in plain English — no new post required.
Dimethicone
A silicone. It's what makes a primer feel silky and fills fine lines — great texture, does nothing for your skin long-term.
SLIP
Tocopheryl Acetate
Vitamin E in its shelf-stable form. A mild antioxidant — mostly there to keep the oils in the formula from going rancid.
PRESERVATIVE
Mica (CI 77019)
The shimmer. A ground mineral that catches light — the reason a "your-skin-but-better" glow looks lit from within instead of glittery.

The Chemist

Hi, I'm Marta — and I genuinely love makeup.

I'm a cosmetic chemist with 10 years of experience and a degree in Chemical Engineering. I absolutely love everything about makeup—especially formulating it. It's not just my job; it's my passion.

You know those long, weird chemical names on the ingredient list on the back of your makeup? That's my world.

Right now, I'm mostly in survival mode with two little ones, but I'm still always looking for ways to grow, learn, and create.

I have a dry, sarcastic sense of humor, was born and raised in Poland, and now call sunny Los Angeles home. In my free time (which I have very little of), I'm usually exploring new makeup products, keeping up with beauty trends, or just enjoying a good laugh.

Field notes
№1I'd love to say pretty packaging doesn't work on me — that would be a lie.
№2My taste: natural makeup that actually stays put. No cakey foundation, no heavy powder.
№3Eyeshadow and I have a strictly no-contact relationship — my hooded eyes aren't fans either.
№4When I'm not at the bench, I'm building websites or falling down an AI rabbit hole — the same curiosity, different medium.
Also, off the clock

I build beautiful websites in my spare time.

My chemistry background gives me a rare advantage: I can understand and review the scientific side of the content, not just make it look good.

So here you'll find a mix — professional work, creative projects, and the personal interests that keep me curious.

Myth of the week

"Chemical-free makeup." Everything is made of chemicals — water included. Here's what that label actually means.
